01 Mar The Elephant and The Mouse
“Excuse me, Mr. Elephant, I am having some problems…”
“Shhh, Little Mouse. Be patient and remain open…”
“Yes, but Mr. Elephant…”
“Little Mouse, I need you to set your personal feelings and concerns aside for the greater good…”
“But, Mr. Elephant…”
“Shooo, Little Mouse. If you will not comply, we will not be able to play together anymore.”
“But, but, Mr. Elephant…”
“This isn’t how I wanted it, Little Mouse, but it’s time for us to part ways. You have until Monday to collect all your toys or I will have to throw them away.”
Distraught, Little Mouse collected all of her toys as Mr. Elephant scooped her up with his trunk and released her into the wild.
Little Mouse wandered and wandered until she finally approached a nice log cabin. Peering inside, she saw a beautiful kitten curled beside a warm fire.
It didn’t take long before Little Mouse and the kitten became fast friends. The beautiful kitten was named Ms. Kitty and she loved to play. Little Mouse was frightened at first, but before long the two grew inseparable.
Ms. Kitty loved to play with Little Mouse and did all she could to teach Little Mouse new riddles and games.
They spent each waking moment together and at night, Little Mouse would snuggle in beside Ms. Kitty.
One day, a mess was made in the kitchen. Not wanting to be seen, Little Mouse scrambled to find a hiding place.
Peering behind a Tom-and-Jerry hole in the floor molding, Little Mouse saw Ms. Kitty staring at her reflection in the puddle on the floor.
Later that evening as the two friends were snuggling in for the night, Ms. Kitty asked what she looked like through Little Mouse’s eyes. Lost for words, Little Mouse repeated the lines written by A.A. Milne from Winnie-the-Pooh: “You’re braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you look.”
In that moment, both realized the wonder and power they had living within their breasts.
As Little Mouse closed her eyes, she realized that Mr. Elephant had done her a favor as he released her into the world…as she finally found a home with someone who truly understood her.
It is with great sadness that I am announcing Elephant Journal and I are parting ways at this time. It may not be permanent- but as of now, most (if not all) of my articles are being pulled from their site.
It is with great clarity and the guidance of Spirit for me to progress on my journey and to submit and work with other publications at this time.
As I got my start with Elephant Journal, I would like to thank each and every one of my readers for supporting me along the way. I look forward to connecting with you further as I continue on this sacred soul-journey.
