Tides Are Changing – Just as the Moon

As of late, I have primarily been focusing on writing for Medium and other online publications. I’ve also been spending a lot more time in the land of Instagram versus Facebook-landia. Which is to say, that I have been neglecting Woods and Wander for quite some time. My precious creation. My baby.

I’ve also been walking through fire. Meaning my whole life has gone up in flames. I have been diligently working within the rubble and ash to create something new as I felt my own wings rise within the scorching flame. And so, I’ve made some decisions. Decisions that align and feel like magic to produce and to create.

While most of my fictional writing is dedicated to Medium and other online publications, I will continue to use this space as a soft landing for my own memoirs, non-fiction writing, and words with soul that were birthed within my heart. But more than that, I am dedicating this space to one of my other passions. I was an avid reader long before I ever put ink to paper. Now, as a writer, reading is literally a part of my job – part of my work.

In his book, ‘On Writing,’ Stephen King says, “If you don’t have time to read, you don’t have the time (or the tools) to write. Simple as that.”

Reading is essential to writing. Oh, there are a lot of writers who will argue this point with me. Hell, there are many who scoffed at Stephen King’s words. A writing legend who has been published some 97+ times. A master of his craft.

I am also taking a Creative Writing Masterclass with Margaret Atwood who echoes the same sentiment as Stephen King. To be a good writer, one must be an avid reader. And no offense to the novice writers out there who enjoy arguing this point, I would rather believe in the advice of those who have been successful in their craft. But, I digress…

I will be filling these pages with more book reviews. With the books I read this year. And the next. And the year after that. This is one of the goals I set [despite my own aversion to claiming it as a resolution] for 2020. I am also writing a lot more reviews for Amazon and Goodreads.

Reviews to writers are life.

I hope you will continue to join me in this space as I convert it into more of a reading and writing lounge, of sorts. This is my passion. This is the calling that has always pulsed through my veins. I have forsaken all else in the pursuit of scrolling words. And I hope as I grow my gifts of writing, share my love of reading, and the exploration of story and  prose – that one day some of my other dreams may manifest.

  • Creative Writing Classes
  • Workshops on Writing
  • Writing Retreats

  • Maybe even, eventually, a literary degree

Meanwhile, I want to thank you all for being committed to taking this journey (oh, it’s been a wild ride, hasn’t it?!) alongside me. I look forward to hearing from you as well. And I am excited to birth in this space what it was always meant to be, or rather, meant to become.
