When Love Dies

When Love Dies

It begins with a hairline fracture
One that can’t be reset
It grows wider, slowly over time
The Great Divide.

Walls have been erected –
No bridges left to cross
You’ve become perfect strangers
In a land full of the lost.

Does wisdom say it’s worth it
Black hole; heart bled
Vengeance or grace, gods willing
Depends which wolf was fed.
